You must be entered in the Southeastern Showdown to enter the Qualifying events 

The Southeastern Showdown has been designated as a NHSRA Western Legacy Series Rodeo.  This means that the NHSRA will supplement each rodeo in the series with additional funding.  All the money will be paid out to contestants.  GHSRA will use this money to add $1,000 to the payout for each High School event including reined cow horse.  There will also be a $1000 scholarship given to the All-Around Cowboy and Cowgirl.  GHSRA will not retain or use any of the money. 

NEW THIS YEAR:

We will be adding Cutting this year, depending on interest.  We have to have a minimum number of entries to make it work.

GHSRA Southeastern Showdown 

The Georgia National Fairgrounds has new rules and guidelines concerning hover boards, skateboards, ets.  We will be posting the full details in the next couple weeks on our website as well as the new facebook page. 

The Georgia National Fairgrounds has increased the cost of stalls.  We are having to pass this increase on, but stalls will still come with the 3 bales of shavings. 

HOOEY JUNIOR PATRIOT

Barrels will only be offered in high school 

High School:  SESD will once again be a Hooey Junior Patriot Qualifier for the following events: Barrels, Poles, Team Roping, Tie Down Roping, Breakaway, Goat Tying, Steer Wrestling.  You must enter online with the Junior Patriot prior to SESD starting.  Please check their website to make sure you don’t miss their deadline.  You will qualify by NHSRA rules on the 2 runs total, except for barrels and poles which will be calculated on your first run.  High School contestants must enter in the 19 and under category, 15 and under will not be offered for high school contestants. 

Junior High School:  SESD-JH will also be a Hooey Junior Patriot Qualifier for the following events:  Poles, Team Roping, Tie Down Roping, Breakaway, Goat Tying.  You must enter online with the Junior Patriot prior to SESD starting.  Please check their website to make sure you don’t miss their deadline.  You will qualify by NHSRA rules on the 2 runs total, except for poles which will be calculated on your first run.  Junior High contestants must enter in either the 15 and under or the 12 and under categories.

OVER $20,000 ADDED FOR THE WEEKEND 


The Georgia High School Rodeo Association would like to invite you to our annual Multi-State High School Rodeo.   The location, as before will be at the GEORGIA FAIRGROUNDS & AGRICENTER https://www.gnfa.com/ 401 Golden Isles Pkwy, Perry, GA.   This is a two go rodeo.  The rodeo is in Reaves Arena which is an enclosed climate controlled building.

Jackpots will be run in Purdue arena where the junior high performances will be.
 

ENTRIES  

FOR STATES COMING AS A STATE APPROVED POINTS RODEO:  You should have your call-in early enough so that you will be able to e-mail your entries to our Rodeo Secretary, Leisa Haslerig, no later than Monday, October 7, 2024. 

All events will be offered both days of each round, except for reined cow horse and cutting.  Both rounds of reined cow horse and cutting will be run on Wednesday night and Thursday. 

There will not be a performance except for the CINCH Varsity Challenge on Friday. 

FOR GEORGIA AND CONTESTANTS COMING FROM STATES THAT ARE NOT COMING AS A STATE APPROVED POINTS RODEO:    You will need to go through the GHSRA Website www.ghsra.com, choose the Southeastern Showdown tab and then choose the high school tab.  The links for entries, stalls, armbands and t-shirts will all be there.  The entry deadline is Sunday October 13, 2024 and the deadline to receive the mailed in payment is Friday October 25, 2024.  When mailing payment please put the contestants name and state they rodeo with in the memo section on check or MO as well as including a copy of the confirmation that is emailed to you after entries are submitted. 

Go round positions will be posted on www.ghsra.com no later than October 30th.  The actual draw for placings in the rounds will not be posted on the website but will be posted at the arena prior to the start of the rodeo.  Both go rounds will be random draw. 

 

ENTRY FEES  

Entry Fee/ Round - $ 50.00 (all but reined cow horse) total of $ 100.00 for the weekend

Entry Fee/ Round - $ 85.00 (reined cow horse has a cattle charge added) total

of $ 170.00 for the weekend

Entry Fee/ Round – Cutting will be determined when we see how many are interested. 

There is a $ 20.00 per contestant grounds fee
 

OPTIONAL SIDE POT   

There will be an optional side pot in each event in high school this year, cost per event is $100.00.  This will be split with $50.00 going to each round and paying out 100%.  This will not pay out on the average, only on the 2 rounds. 

T-SHIRTS  

Each state is asked to send a list of contestants in ABC order (by last name) for the back of the T-Shirts, preferably by e-mail in an excel format, to Leisa Haslerig with the entries for your State. 

We have a deadline with the vendor, they must have our order by Monday October 21, 2024.

There will not be a vendor on site selling shirts.  They will be preordered and there is a form on our website www.ghsra.com under the SESD tab for high school.  Deadline for shirt orders is Sunday October 20, 2024 and if you are mailing in a check or money order the deadline to receive payment is Friday October 25, 2024.  

ORDERS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PICKUP STARING THURSDAY MORNING.

ALL ORDERS MUST BE PICKED UP BY THE END OF THE FIRST GO ROUND (FRIDAY NIGHT).

SHOULD THE GHSRA HAVE TO CANCEL THIS EVENT, WE WILL SHIP T SHIRT ORDERS TO

YOUR STATE.  NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN. 

GOLF CARTS 
 

Golf carts will be offered this year through Mike’s Golf Carts, and they can be reached

at 478-954-3107. You need to reserve directly with them by accessing their website at

www.werentcarts.com  You must be 18 years of age to drive the golf carts.   
 

ORDER OF EVENTS 
 

Bareback, Goat Tying, Saddle Bronc, Tie-Down Roping, Breakaway Roping, Steer Wrestling, Barrel Racing, Team Roping, Pole Bending and Bull Riding.
 

Cutting will run both rounds during the 1st round on Wednesday Night and Reined Cow Horse will run both rounds during the 1st round on Thursday morning.  More detail to come, specific times will depend on number of entries in both Cutting and Reined Cow Horse.
 

**Depending on the number of entries in Bareback and Saddle Bronc these 2 events may be run at the same time with Goat Tying to follow. 
 

CHURCH SERVICE  

There will be a church service held on Sunday, 8:00 am at the arena
 

GRAND ENTRY 
 

Thursday morning and Saturday morning we will have grand entry with sponsor flags and American Flag.

Friday night for the CINCH Team Challenge Rodeo we will have a full grand entry with State Flags and American Flag.  Please make sure that you bring your State Flags. 


SPECIAL GROUND RULES 
 

Thirty (30) second time limits will be in effect for all times events.
In all roping events, the one loop rule will be in effect.
Western attire is required for contestants at all times in Reeves Arena along with your state issued back number.
NO air horns are allowed in Reaves Arena.
 

         AWARDS 

All Around Cowboy and All Around Cowgirl will receive Gist Buckles as well as a $1,000 cash

scholarship paid out at the rodeo.  Reserve All Around Cowboy and All Around Cowgirl will

receive Gist Buckles. 

Event winners will receive Gist Buckles.
 

Event reserve winners will receive a CINCH certificate. 

                     In case of a tie for event champions, awards will be duplicated for winners and Reserve

         champion ties will be broken by a flip of a coin.
 

         PAYOUT  

Jackpot will be paid on each go as well as the average.  Contestants willing payout will be

required to fill out and sign a W9 before you receive your check.  If you are not going to be in Perry on Sunday and you think you might be winning money in an event, please make sure that you see our state financial secretary Ashley Riner before you leave so you can sign a W9.  If this is not completed before you leave Perry there will be a delay in mailing you check out.
 

The money for the first go will be ready to pick up by Saturday at noon, after the start of

round 2.  The money for the second go will be ready to pick up within 30 minutes of the event

completing on Sunday. 

If you are not going to be present on Sunday afternoon, we will mail your money to you or

send it via your State designee (national director, president, secretary).
 

ADMISSION  

Contestants are free with back number.

Children 12 and under are admitted free. 

Advance weekend admission armbands can be purchased on the pre order link on the GHSRA Website www.ghsra.com under SESD tab in the top bar under high school tab for $15.00. 

Armbands purchased in advance will be available for pick up at the arena entry door from barn 1 during each round. 

Admission at the door will be $10.00 per day.
 

Each State will receive 4 rodeo personnel passes and these must be picked up at the announcers stand from the rodeo secretary by either the national director, state president or secretary.  If they are going to be picked up by another designee, then please notify Leisa Haslerig who that will be in advance via email at SESDRodeoSecretary@GMAIL.com
 

ADVANCED PURCHASED ARMBANDS MUSTS BE RECEIVED NO LATER THAN OCTOBER 25, 2024 and if purchasing after October 21st  you will be required to pay through PayPal
 

HORSE STALLS 
 

There is a stall order form on the GHSRA website www.ghsra.com under SESD tab in the top bar under high school tab. 
 

EACH CONTESTANT MUST PUT THEIR HORSE OR HORSES IN A STALL WITH ONLY ONE HORSE PER STALL.   NO HORSES CAN BE TIED TO TRAILERS AND NO PENS CAN BE SET UP AT TRAILERS.   THIS IS AN AGRICENTER RULE.  
 

Stall cost is $150.00 per stall for the 4 nights in advance and needs to be pre ordered through the link.  Each stall comes with 3 bales of shavings that will be in your stall when you arrive
 

If you need more than the 3 bales of shaving’s you can purchase them from the fairgrounds on their website https://www.gnfa.com/.  Please DO NOT take bales of shaving from other stalls that are not yours. 
 

If you want to rent stall mats, contact Lisa Slaton at 478-952-6251. She will coordinate with the

We will assign stalls according to the reservations and all States will be together if received by the deadline.  High School will be in Barn 1 and overflow to Barn 2 if necessary. 
 

If you have a late stall request you may or may not be with your State or your other stalls.   Stalls will be $190.00 after the cut-off date of Friday October 25, 2024.  After this date you will need to contact Leisa Haslerig at SESDRodeoSecretary@gmail.com or 423-305-3692 to reserve additional stalls.  

Stall fees will not be refunded without a Vet or medical excuse. 

Stall reservations must be received no later than Friday, October 25, 2024.
 

RV HOOK-UPS  

There is plenty of campsites with full hook-up.   Arrange directly with the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter to make your reservations.   Your reservation can be made through their website, https://www.gnfa.com/ and the link will go live on Tuesday September 3rd at 10am.  No generators are allowed.

Please advise your contestant’s and their families that they will not be permitted admittance to the fairgrounds before 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 6th. 


The Agricenter has a security gate with personnel on duty 24 hours.   In an emergency you can call 1-478-988-6557.   They are there only for assistance and have no connections with the rodeo and cannot answer any questions regarding the rodeo.
 

HORSE HEALTH PAPERS  

Be sure you have a NEGATIVE COGGINS on your horse.   Also, check with your state regarding health papers required when crossing state lines,

and from the rodeo.
